Commentary works with your out-of-the-box SharePoint discussion boards to provide a rich social experience for your users. Some of the many features include:
Links
Commentary enables your team to have a more valuable discussion by including links with their posts. It will pull in a summary based on either the meta tags or the text content of the page. It also gathers images from the page to allow the selection of a thumbnail.
Liking
Commentary keeps your team engaged in the conversation by allowing users to “like” posts that interest them. These likes use the out-of-the-box social features in SharePoint, so they show up in a user’s feed on their MySites. Commentary can also setup an alert to notify you of future replies to a liked post.
Improved Thread Styling
Discussion boards include a threaded view out-of-the-box; but the style differences between posts and replies are subtle and can cause confusion. Commentary reduces confusion by changing the styling to clearly define posts and replies from each other.
Sharing
Commentary allows you to quickly and easily share a post with other users. Using the Share button, you can email other users a link to the discussion to get them to engage.
Web Part Customization
Many of Commentary’s features can be customized directly from the web part properties tool pane such as: Custom CSS URL, jQuery URL, and List Title.
